Putting out Fires

Currently T is working on a few things in the 'Stan.  Mainly he's doing a lot of coordination and covering for another 1SG who is home on leave and spending time with his family.  Apparently this 1SG was on Torch Party so this may land T in the position through the end of the deployment and let the other 1SG come home sooner.  He left his family sooner so he should get to go home sooner.  We will see how this works out but T really likes what he's doing.  It's got good points and bad points.  Some of the good is that when guys from the Brigade head home on leave...he gets to see them.  They come there to get their flight out to go home for leave with their families...or they come in through there and he keeps them on track.  Currently one of his platoon leaders is there...we love CPT S.

Sometimes he doesn't have good news.  He had a rough day the other day.  One of the engineer's attached to the Brigade was killed.  That in and of itself makes for a sad day...but this was even worse.  The engineer's wife is also in the Brigade and so she was on board to assist her husband's trip home.  They do a ceremony as the body is loaded onto the aircraft for the journey to Dover.  The widow actually took part in the ceremony after some thought.  T said it was a super emotional moment.  He couldn't really put into words what it was like but it brought tears to my eyes as he told me about it.

Currently that is all for now.  14!!
